Hopefully our Web Site can answer all of the questions you may have about Camps 'R' Us. If not, please check out this FAQ section.
Is Camps 'R' Us accredited by the American Camp Association?
Camps 'R' Us, New York campuses are accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Nassau County Department of Health.
What training does the staff receive?
Our staff members are among the best and brightest in the camping industry. We only recruit staff with strong backgrounds in child care, impeccable references, and who endure a rigorous interview with one of our Directors. Every staff member participates in a 3 day Training and Orientation Program prior to the opening of camp. This program teaches the staff all the recreational, safety, and health related issues concerning the camp. Both our Directors and Professional Consultants, renowned in the camping industry, teach this program. In addition, all Senior Staff members are trained by the National Safety Council in First-Aid, CPR/BLS, Anaphylaxis Response, and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), which surpasses American Camp Association standards.
Is transportation available?
No. Unfortunately, transportation costs are too high, and would prevent Camps 'R' Us from maintaining price affordability. Although we do not provide transportation to our campuses, we offer an Extended Hours Program, which allow families to arrive as early as 7:30AM and depart as late a 6:00PM.
Does Camps 'R' Us offer payment plans?
Yes, and the best part is YOU decide when to make the payments. We will never bill you. Invoices are mailed home after each transaction as a reminder. Final payments are due by May 1st of the current camp year.
Will the camp provide lunch?
No. Campers "brown-bag" their lunch, which is kept refrigerated, so that families do not worry about perishable food items. Camps 'R' Us provides unlimited drinks each day, including water, lemonade, iced tea, etc. We also give every camper a snack during our Movie/Wind-Down Time.
Are campers grouped by age, activity, or both?
Campers in our Tiny Tots and Kinderkamp program are grouped by age. Campers in grades 1-6 are grouped based on the grade that they completed in June of the current camp year. Campers who have completed the 7th grade or who are 13-15 years old can be enrolled in our C2 Program (CIT Program) or the Voyagers (Teen Trip and Travel).
Does the price include the full range of activities?
The tuition includes all activities except for optional trips, which can range from $15-$40 per trip. Campers may also purchase tickets for our annual Camp Carnival, which are used for game booths, refreshments, and other attractions (Tickets are $0.50 each and campers usually spend $30 during the Carnival). Some campers also bring extra money for the snack bar on Swimming and Bowling days (two days per week).
Are parent visits encouraged?
Yes. Parents are welcome to visit their camper(s), but must notify the camp office before they arrive. However, visits cannot take place on Swimming and Bowling days or days when your child is scheduled for a trip off-campus.
What are PDF Files and why do I need to use them to register for camp?
A PDF, or Portable Document File, is a computer file that allows us to share any document over the Internet. It is easily downloadable and can be viewed on any computer. We use PDFs because they are one of only a few file types that can be viewed on any computer. We want everyone to be able to access our files. All you need is a free program, which can be downloaded by clicking on the button below.
