Campers and staff members at Camps ‘R’ Us worked hard to fight hunger in our local communities this summer.
During the final weeks of the 2012 camp season, Camps ‘R’ Us campers and staff members were asked to bring in non-perishable food items that would be donated to local food pantries and hunger relief organizations.
In total, we donated 807 food items to the food pantries at each of the Parishes in which our camps reside. These food items will go a long way towards helping families who are less fortunate than ours. We are very proud of the efforts of our campers, their parents and our staff members.
Each summer, Camps ‘R’ Us creates a new social awareness campaign to bring to light important issues in our local communities. In 2011, “CRU Knocks Out Cancer” raised nearly $5,000.00 for the American Cancer Society of Long Island.
As a camp community, we can make a difference. If you have an idea for our 2013 social awareness campaign, or know of a local charity that needs assistance, please [tip title=”Contact Camps ‘R’ Us” url=”/contact/”]Contact Us[/tip].
