Summer camps are more than just a convenient solution for working families. From preschoolers refining motor skills to middle schoolers exploring independence, they offer children an immersive and meaningful way to grow, explore, and thrive, all while giving parents peace of mind and confidence in their child’s care.
At Camps ‘R’ Us, we combine fun with personal development, helping campers build confidence, make friends, and create unforgettable memories. Regardless of their age, expect your children to have a memorable and impactful camp experience.
What Is the Value of Summer Camp?
The benefits of camp are numerous. Summer camp offers a safe and nurturing environment for children to step outside their comfort zone, try new activities, and develop essential life skills. Unlike typical childcare settings, summer camp offers full-day experiences that support children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Each day, campers in our different programs engage in activities that require problem-solving, cooperation, and imaginative thinking. Whether it’s participating in a creative project, working together on the sports field, or cheering a fellow camper along during a talent show, every day at summer camp is full of enriching experiences. These teach children how to communicate, collaborate, and explore new things.
Camp also gives children the gift of independence. Screen-free fun and creativity empowers them to make decisions, solve problems, and discover what they enjoy – all on their own. These early opportunities for autonomy help prepare them for school, friendships, and life beyond childhood.
The Camps ‘R’ Us Experience
The Camps ‘R’ Us experience takes the traditional summer camp experience to the next level. Whether your child is in the Tiny Tots®, Campers, or Explorers® group, our mission is to build better qualities in children, ensuring they enjoy a wide range of diverse, age-appropriate activities designed to foster exploration, creativity, and personal growth.
On-Campus Activities
Camp days at Camps ‘R’ Us help ignite imagination and creativity. Each activity is age-appropriate and screen-free, as well as fun and engaging. All come packed with opportunities for children to grow.
Popular experiences include:
- Arts & Crafts: Campers and Tiny Tots unleash their artistic skills each week, creating projects like bird houses, memory boxes, paintings, and other personalized projects.
- Sports: From basketball and volleyball to tennis and pickleball, campers across all divisions stay active while developing teamwork and motor skills.
- WonderWorks®: Tiny Tots and Campers explore sensory play and imaginative thinking through tools like Kinetic Sand, LEGOs, and themed STEAM kits.
- STEAM: Campers and Explorers design, test, and build using real scientific principles in activities like the Egg Drop Challenge and Krabby Patty Catapult.
- Swimming: Campers and Explorers enjoy structured swim time at local pools, slides, and splash zones.
Every activity aims to not just be fun, but to encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The mix of structured guidance and freedom to explore allows campers to learn while they play.
Off-Campus Field Trips
In addition to having fun in the on-campus activities, campers at Camps ‘R’ Us have the opportunity to participate in off-campus field trips. Some of these are specific to particular programs, while others bring the entire campus together for a shared experience.
Camp tuition includes two field trips, with bonus trips allowing campers to visit additional locations. Some of the popular field trip destinations Tiny Tots, Campers, and Explorers visit include:
- Six Flags
- Scott’s Pointe Adventure Park
- Once Upon a Treetop
- Topgolf
- The New York Hall of Science
Our camp calendars feature a comprehensive list of all field trip destinations.
These off-campus trips introduce campers to new environments, giving them hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, encourage adaptability, and teach them how to safely navigate new situations.
Camp Life Skills
Many parents (and children!) wonder why summer camp is important. The truth is that every day at camp is more than just fun, offering a powerful setting for personal growth. At Camps ‘R’ Us, children gain a wide range of life skills that prepare them for success inside and outside of the classroom and beyond.
Throughout the summer, campers learn how to communicate clearly, collaborate with peers, and resolve challenges with confidence. Daily group activities and field trips promote independence, adaptability, and empathy. Campers also build resilience, as many activities require them to make more than one attempt at something. That “try again” mindset carries through school, friendships, and future goals.
Leadership opportunities also arise at camp, whether through helping a teammate or taking initiative during a group project. Most importantly, campers don’t gain these soft skills through lectures, but rather through teamwork, play, and the small victories that come from trying something new.
A Summer to Remember
The value of summer camp doesn’t just come from structured activities. It comes from the small moments throughout the day – laughter shared over lunch, the pride of finishing a big art project, and the teamwork that helped win a basketball game.
At Camps ‘R’ Us, we create communities where children are supported and celebrated. From toddlers to middle schoolers, we aim to give all campers summers full of memories, milestones, and joy.
