- Commit to working the entire camp season.
June 25 – August 17, 2012 (we are closed July 4, 2012) - Attend the Camps ‘R’ Us BigTOP (Big Training & Orientation Program)
June 7 – June 9, 2012 (tentative) - Attend the Camps ‘R’ Us COPS (Campus Orientation Program & Setup)
June 20 – June 21, 2012 (tentative)
Available Positions and Eligibility
Program Director
Program Directors are responsible for the overall supervision of camp programming, including all activity areas and camper divisions. Program Directors spend the day in the field making sure Specialists and Group Leaders are prepared to lead great programs. Responsibilities include assisting with pre-camp staff training and the ability to teach all of the camp activities. They need to guide and motivate the staff while taking initiative to solve problems.
Program Directors must be past Camps ‘R’ Us Specialists or Group Leaders with at least 5 years of camp experience.
Group Leader
Group Leaders oversee the campers and counselors in a specific division. Responsibilities include communicating with parents before and during camp, training and managing their counselors, caring for and participating in every aspect of the camp day, problem solving, facilitating daily activities and contributing to staff meetings.
Group Leaders must be past Camps ‘R’ Us Counselors with at least 3 years of camp experience and must be 21 years old.
Voyager Leader
Voyager Leaders work with campers in the Voyagers Teen Trip & Travel Program. Responsibilities include supervising campers at off-campus venues and during the travel to and from those venues. Additional responsibilities include participating in activities, being in the water to supervise campers, promoting the health and safety of campers, having fun, and building a positive self-image for campers. After the conclusion of the Voyagers Program, you will work closely with Voyagers and other campers in the C2 Program.
Voyager Leaders must be past Camps ‘R’ Us Counselors with at least 3 years of camp experience and must be 21 years old.
Specialist
Specialists lead all the program activity areas at Camps ‘R’ Us, including Arts & Crafts, Shades’ Famous Game Room, Indoor Athletics, and Outdoor Sports. Specialists implement programming that allows campers to explore individual and team skills, and they are in charge of the campers’ learning experience at their activity area. They are also liaisons for campers in our C2 program.
Specialists must be past Camps ‘R’ Us Counselors with at least 3 years of camp experience and must be 21 years old. They must also possess a competent skill set in the activity that they will be supervising.
Counselor
Counselors spend the entire summer supervising campers in a specific age group. Responsibilities include leading campers to activities, assisting Specialists, participating in activities, being in the water to supervise campers, promoting the health and safety of campers, having fun, and building a positive self-image for campers.
Counselors new to Camps ‘R’ Us must have at least 2 years previous experience working with children and must be 17 years old and must have completed the 12th grade.
Counselors who were former C2s and part of the Junior Counselor Internship last summer must be 16 years old and must have completed the 11th grade.
Junior Counselor
Junior Counselors are responsible for facility management and activity support. As a Junior Counselor, you will assist Specialists and Directors at a particular program area. These areas include Arts & Crafts, Shades’ Famous Game Room, Indoor Athletics, Outdoor Sports and Administration.
JC internships are available to last summer’s participants in the Camps ‘R’ Us C2 Program who are 15 years old and who have completed the 10th grade.
